Chipolopolo assistant coach Aggrey Chiyangi says Zambia paid the price for missed chances in the 1-0 quarterfinal loss to Sudan at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN).

And Sudan coach Logarusic Hrvatsko says Zambia did everything right in the match but suffered from conceding a first half goal.

During a post-match conference, Chiyangi said Sudan provided a formidable challenge against Zambia.

“It has been a very tough game. We have lost, the only thing that we did not do was score. We created so many chances but we did not score,” he said.
“Playing against Sudan was always going to be difficult but I think the goodness is we created chances but did not just score.”

Chiyangi said the technical bench would conduct a post-mortem of the tournament and patch up the loopholes.

“Our mission was to go beyond this stage but football being what it is, we have failed to go beyond this round. In football there are no failures, it is only that you fail to go to the next round, you only fail when you give up,” he said.
“This tournament is gone, we have learnt one or two things.”

And Hrvatsko said that Zambia played all the football but failed to score.

“Zambia played very well, they were a bit unlucky they did not score. In football sometimes you play better and do not deserve to lose sometimes, you do not deserve to win, you win,” he said.

Zambia concluded their CHAN mission with a 3-1 win over Uganda before dispatching Ivory Coast 2-0 and drew 1-all against Namibia.

In the quarterfinal game the Chipolopolo lost 1-0 to Sudan.
