PF Wants ECZ Chairman Mambilima, ZNBC MD Chibamba Fired – Fr. Bwalya

Opposition Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ) leader Frank Bwalya has disclosed that the ruling Patriotic Front ia scheming to hound Justice Ireen Mambilima out of the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Fr. Bwalya told Zambian Eye in statement Tuesday, July 30, 2013 that the current attacks by PF General Secretary Wynter Kabimba on ECZ is aimed at having Mambilima and other perceived critical officials out of the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

“The on-going chorus of attack on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) by Patriotic Front (PF) with Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba as the choir master is part of a scheme to replace ECZ chairperson Justice Ireen Mambilima and other critical staff with PF cadres,” said Fr. Bwalya.

The ABZ president who heavily campaigned for the PF in the run-up to it being ushered into government said PF wants to do this in line with its party constitution article 3 which says; “The Party shall ensure that all public institutions, State-owned enterprises and popular mass and similar organizations are led by persons who are members of the Party and who are uncompromisingly committed to achievements of the Party”.

He charged that PF has realized that Justice Mambilima and her staff can’t be used to promote the interests of it’s party.

” Therefore, the public should expect many PF officials from various parts of the country to join the chorus the choirmaster Kabimba has started,” Fr. Bwalya warned. “PF plans to do the same with Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) which has of late exhibited elements of fair and objective coverage of dissenting views.”

The ABZ leader who is also a former Catholic Priest said with the Police, they have no problem because they are getting full support in advancing their interests.

Fr. Bwalya has asked Zambians to ensure that these machinations by PF do not work.

“We should oppose them and ensure that we protect the integrity and autonomy of ECZ and other state institutions,” he said. “If we allow PF to install their cadres at ECZ we should as well forget about free and fair elections and be prepared for unprecedented anarchy in Zambia.”

Kabimba and his officials in PF has launched attacks on ECZ accusing it of favouring the Opposition parties. Read the story by clicking here.

        • Learn to appreciate iwe cimbwi!!! Today, you can even watch a lunatic in the name of Hyena Hyena (HH) on MAIN NEWS expressing his bitterness before amused Zambian views! This NEVER used to happen under MMD. Sometimes ZNBC has even tended to be over-zealous by showing even rubbish coming out the mouth of petty politicians like Nevers Mumba, Elias Kapimo and the like. All in the name of being seen to be balanced-but at the expence of the ruling party!

  3. Father Bwalya admits that ZNBC is now fairer than it was 3 years ago but we still have have some people who cannot even appreciate the efforts ZNBC is putting up.

    • I agree with you to some extent. ZNBC has changed a bit somehow. But stop quoting that mad man clinging to the title of ‘father’ when he’s not a priest! Or maybe we will be calling him father because he’s father to a number of kids he is rumoured to have!

  4. Chibamba wont be fired for being unproffessional at least but will be fired coz of his tribe, and the (in)’correct’ tribe will replace him from either Northern or the infamous Muchinga provinces – ‘Watch the space before 2016’…

    • Iwe take your tribalism with you to hell!!!! Cant you just debate without referring to people’s tribes. When will you primitive people stop “thinking with your tribe?” It bothers me really! Why did you think Kanyama was appointed in the first place if the appointing authority was tribal…?

The prospects of being led by backward thinking people like you are indeed-sooooo scary! What can become of this country….?!
