The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested the Wife to politician B.Y. Mwila and a Finance Manager of Wade Adams Piling and Foundations Zambia Limited for issuing cheques on an insufficiently funded account and money laundering.Drug enforcement commission public relations officer Samuel Silomba says that Mrs Margaret Kakungu Lombe Mwila, 50, of Plot No. 9721 Chudleigh Lusaka, has been arrested and jointly charged with Mr Hartwell Chazya Sikaundi, 67, the Finance manager of Flat No. 4 Impala Court Northmead Lusaka, for issuing two (02) cheques on an insufficiently funded account.
Mr. Silomba says that this is contrary to Section 33 (i) of the National Payment Systems Act No. 1 of 2007.
He explains that it is alleged that the two, in their capacities as Director and Finance Manager, respectively, of Wade Adams Piling and Foundations Zambia Limited, wilfully, dishonestly and with intent to defraud, issued two (02) cheques amounting to K70 million on an insufficiently funded account as payment for two motor vehicles, a Toyota Nadia and a Nissan Datsun Pickup from Tokyo Vehicles Limited.
The suspects will appear in court soon.
